Vanity Fairy Doll Jar Topper

We have noticed in many antique shops these wonderful glass vanity jars without lids. We were told many had tin or very thin metal lids that were badly dented or rusted. But, how do we use these jars without lids? This is why we have created the "Vanity Doll Jar Topper".

This jar will look great in your bedroom, bathroom etc... You can fill the jar with jewelry or anything you could think of. These jars are inexpensive and fairly easy to find.

We found a great 1920's piece which is on the large size, so it is easy to store many different objects in it.

This looks a little hard to achieve, but actually it is very easy.

Let us get started.

    Materials Needed:

    1) Vanity Jar

    2) Styrofoam Cone

    3) Flower petals....we purchased one bunch of tulips for our flower of choice

    4) Straight Pins

    5) Porcelain Doll Head

    6) Lace

    7) Craft Glue

Let's Create:

1) Take apart each flower and cut off the petals

2) Start to pin the flower petals on the cone...we started from the top and worked around the cone towards the bottom doing one layer at a time

3) We glued lace around the neck of the doll head to cover the opening at the neck.

4) When the cone is fulled with petals...you can glue the doll head to the top (pointed) part of the cone

5) Take two leaves off of the flower stems..they usually have wire on the back...and place under the petals in the cone to form the wings

You are done!

You may want to adjust your cone at the bottom to fit your jar...you can put either a little material around the bottom of the cone or glue a cardboard base so it fits in the jar nicely.

Also, this doll can be used even without the jar as a decoration in the bedroom, bathroom etc...

This is a fun project and is a useful topper for your crystal jar.

Happy Creating!
