Souvenir Spoon Display Frame

You are probably all crafted out from the holiday season. As you know in our holiday issue we created ornaments with souvenir spoons and really enjoyed using them. So now, we have developed a display piece for your collection. We created a simple display frame for your kitchen. Some of us do not have a large collection but would like to display them, so this frame is the perfect solution for a small collection of souvenir spoons. We have also used a vintage frame from the same period as our spoons, early 20th century.

At the turn of the century, many people traveled. They took so called "Grand Tours". Our ancestors loved to bring back a memento of their travels. Spoons are one of the popular items they collected. You can find these in almost any antique store, flea market etc... We prefer the silver spoons. The cost can range from a few dollars and up.

Let us get started.
Materials Needed:
1) Vintage Frame
2) Matt Board
3) Thin Wire
4) Pressed Flowers (optional)
5) Souvenir Spoons
6) Scissors

Let's Create:

1) First take the glass out of your frame

2) Measure and cut the correct size of matt board to fit the frame, fit and adjust in frame

3) Place the spoons on the matt board which is in the frame to check the positioning before wiring the spoons onto the matt board

4) Use your scissors and just make a small hole on each side of the individual spoons to insert the wire and just twist the wire on the back of the frame securely to hold the spoon

5) We added a special little touch of pressed flowers to give it a romantic feel.

You are done!

This frame looks great on the wall or you can display it on a plate easel.

This frame will make for great conversation in your kitchen over a cup of hot tea.

Happy Creating!
